Submeeting: tourist routes

We will organize some group with local guides and they will show you the most interesting things around the city, the 2 May in the morning and afternoon.

Meeting points will be informed in the Welcome party at Retiro Park. If you can’t arrive in time to your meeting point, you must go to the next meeting point, we won’t wait for anybody. Inscription is mandatory, because we need to control the number of people who participate and because we have to organize small groups.

If you want to visite some especific areas or maybe you want to see again some  places, contact us and we will organize a group to continue with the tourist Routes, 3 May. Talk you with the organizers if you are interested in it.

Los puntos de reunión se informarán en el Welcome Party del Retiro. Si no llegas a tiempo a un punto de reunión no te estaremos esperando, dirígete al siguiente punto de reunión. Es obligatoria la inscripción porque queremos controlar el número de personas y dividirlo en pequeños grupos.

BICENTENARY of May 2nd. mADRID 1808

Madrid commemorates May 2^nd, 1808 with a complete cultural programme. Exhibitions, publications and a spectacular street display to remember the day in which the people of Madrid rose up in rebellion against the Napoleonic troops, changing the history of Spain.

The city, under the mayorship of the Count of Peñalver at the time, already observed the 100^th anniversary of these events in 1908. Back then, the celebrations mainly had a festive tone, with parades by the military and school children, fireworks, the inauguration of the monument to Dos de Mayo or the unveiling of diverse commemorative plaques honouring the role of women in Madrid’s uprising (Manuela Malasaña, Clara del Rey or Benita Pastrana).

To celebrate the Bicentenary, a wide cultural programme has been planned, combining learning with entertainment and based on three elements: exhibitions, publications and scenic arts.

The most surprising proposal is the large-format street show 6 Goyas 6, created by Pere Pinyol, with musical direction by Carles Santos and the special participation of La Fura dels Baus and Carles Padrissa. This installation will take over the Prado Museum, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Dos de Mayo, Plaza de Oriente and Cibeles. It will kick off in the afternoon of May 1^st, although the central part of the show will take place throughout the evening of May 2^nd, with La Fura’s closure in Cibeles.

The show is based on works by Francisco de Goya, and portrays the most significant events of the uprising. Works by the artist will become alive in a historic interpretation incorporating dance, theatre, parades and music by prestigious creators and companies.

Madrid conmemora con una completa programación cultural el 2 de mayo de 1808, el día en que el pueblo madrileño se levantó contra las tropas napoleónicas. Madrid conmemora con una completa programación cultural el 2 de mayo de 1808, el día en que el pueblo madrileño se levantó contra las tropas napoleónicas.

Se ha preparado un vasto programa cultural, pero la propuesta más sorprendente es el espectáculo de calle de gran formato 6 Goyas 6. Ideado por Pere Pinyol, con dirección musical de Carles Santos y la participación especial de La Fura dels Baus y Carles Padrissa, el montaje invadirá el Museo del Prado, la Puerta del Sol, la plaza Mayor y las plazas del Dos de Mayo, Oriente y Cibeles. Comenzará la tarde del 1 de mayo, aunque la parte central del espectáculo se desarrollará a lo largo de la tarde-noche del 2, con cierre a cargo de La Fura en Cibeles.

El montaje parte de las obras de Francisco de Goya y reproduce los episodios más significativos del levantamiento. Obras del pintor cobrarán vida en una interpretación histórica que integra danza, teatro, pasacalles o música, por creadores y compañías del máximo prestigio.

Submeeting: Dance salsa!

You  prefer to shake your body with a salsa rhythm? Madrid is full of places where you can dance salsa. You can join even if you don’t know how to dance and if you want to know more about this Latin dance.

We would like to go to Tropical House (Martin de los Heros, 14 ; Metro: Plaza de España 3 and 10 lines), is one of the best places in Madrid to dance this kind of music. The entrance cost 10€ drink included (special price, usually cost 12 €)
All dancers (madrileños, foreigners, travellers, all the people!)are welcome!
If you aren’t yet a dancer, you can see if you like it, and then go to learn!

Prefieres mover tu cuerpo a ritmo de salsa? Madrid está lleno de locales donde bailar salsa. También puedes venir si no sabes bailar y quieres conocer qué es eso del baile latino. Tropical House es uno de los mejores locales de Madrid para bailar. La entrada cuesta 10 €, una consumición incluida (precio especial, normalmente cuesta 12 €)

Todos: viajeros, extranjeros , madrileños, todos los bailarines, son bienvenidos!! Y si todavía no eres un bailarín de salsa, siempre puedes venir y ver si te gusta, para después ir a aprender!
